Need suggestions on what all I need to take to the hospital. My hospital stay is only supposed to be for 23 hours as long as I have no complications.

To the hospital I wore a really loose fitting dress and loose fitting sweat pants - I wore those home as well.

I also took chapstick, my kindle and charging cable, my iPhone and charging cable, and.. that's it.  I didn't use my kindle at all, I just putzed on my phone when I was coherent.

I also took a hard case for my glasses!

My ride home brought a small pillow to hold against my stomach for the drive home.

all you should bring is a change of underwear

don't bring a cell phone or tablet  unless there is someone there to watch it , that is what my hospital told us

there was lap tops in the lounge and free phone in every room  and free tv even though you will no****ch much

and forget about doing any work or anything that needs consentration

they supply lip balm , soap , shampoo, gowns slippers toothbrush and paste

they will not let you take any meds except what the doctor ordered and they sup[ply even gas x that does nothing for the surgical gas

You don't need much.

  • a robe -- to cover your bum when you are walking around
  • slippers -- to cover your feet when you are walking around :)
  • a book -- to pretend to read until you pass out
  • some way to communicate -- phone / ipad & charger
  • a loved one
  • wear loose clothing
  • maybe a water bottle if you have a long drive home

Good luck!

I went to Mexico, so I packed a bunch. But really only wanted a book & my cell phone (with Kindle app & books) & charger.

Clothing: comfy, loose stuff that won't bother your stomach. An extra pair of underwear (I def peed a little while dry heaving). Slip on shoes are helpful - bending is just today becoming not painful (1 week out).

Toiletries: you may want a shower, so shampoo/conditioner/body wash if you think you might. Otherwise toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant.

ETA: A pillow or stuffed animal for holding on your stomach as needed, esp. On the way home. I got a penguin pillow pet from the boyfriend for Valentine's Day & it has been ridiculously helpful (and dorky).
