Liquids go down too easy?

6 days post-op and I am curious about something.  I was very swollen day 2 and could barely tolerate ice chips without getting foamies.  By day 3 I was so much better and able to drink my juice the morning I was released, and continued the day taking baby sips of  VitaminWaterZero and water easily, but several times getting a burp like pressure if I drank sips too close together.  Got in about 50 oz.

The last 3 days I find that I have NO problem with my liquids.  I can drink a 20oz water in an hour easily.  I can take a sip and wait a few seconds/minute and take another sip easily. I can even feel the coldness is my stomach for a few seconds.  It's almost the same as drinking before surgery....   No pressure, pain, foamies.  Should I back off and drink more slowly?  Is it just going right through?

I think I have confused myself after reading posts where some can only sip 4 oz in an hour, or take 3 hours to sip a protein drink.  I don't want to hurt my new stomach or incision line.

I had my VSG on 2/25/15 and I never had any trouble drinking.  Still don't. When I was on full liquid, I could easily take in more than a cup of soup.  I was worried about that too.  But, I definitely found the restriction on my soft foods.  I am in my puree/soft food stage and I definitely get stopped after a few bites.  I say use the liquids to your advantage.  Get in your protein shakes and water!

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much!  I am not worried about having restriction, I know that will come.  I just find it weird that I can drink so easily after reading so many posts of people having problems getting even 20-40 oz down.  My body still likes water too, which I am thankful for also.

No one complains about being "able" to drink which is why you don't red about it. I think more people than not have no problem getting liquids in.  I wouldn't worry at all, my experience is similar to yours.

Thanks Dan, that makes perfect sense!  I feel well enough that I going back to work tomorrow.  I will just consider myself fortunate that I can get in all my fluids and protein right now.... and that my classroom is close to the restroom : )
