NSV - Mammogram

I had my annual mammogram on Friday.  In the past, the techs would have to scramble to find a surgical gown that would barely fit around me.  This year they handed me their standard wrap around smock which fit without issue.  I was so happy that I wanted to steal it and wear it home as a souvenir    (I didn't).

When they did the mammography, the tech said she could see that my breasts are smaller since last year and asked how much weight I'd lost.  I couldn't remember the exact number so I told her 150 lbs.  She thought she misheard me and asked me to repeat it.  She then asked me several questions about the surgery and what I couldn't eat.  I told her there's nothing I can't eat - it's what I choose to eat instead.

There was a MO woman in the waiting area wearing the same type of surgical gown I've worn for years.  My heart went out to her knowing exactly how she feels.

What a difference a year in your life can make.  I'm grateful for what I've achieved to date and will continue working towards my goal.

What a great victory!  I too was thrilled when I could start using a regular johnnie instead of the supersized one.

Super awesome!

I was able to wear a "one size fits all" robe at the hotel I was in last week.  It's amazing how it feels to be "one size fits all" sized, eh? :)

Ha!  I had a very similar experience a month ago!  I wrapped the ties TWICE around on the normal gown.  Then when I went in for the scan, the tech looks at me, then at her monitor, then at me, then back at the monitor... She looked horrified and puzzled all at the same time, till she asked if I'd lost weight and how much.  She was very relieved when she learned she didn't screw up placing me, there really was a huge reduction in tissue! Best mammo EVER!

This brought tears to my eyes. I guess that's a major sign that I really am beyond ready to have my surgery and start down a healthier path. This is an amazing victory! It's stories like these that are inspiring to me. So happy for you.

If you feel like quitting, think of why you started.

I totally relate - had my mammogram also last week.  Two years ago - the robe would not fit me.  So embarrassing to be sitting in that waiting room with everyone in their normal robes and me with two on.

Breast cancer is more prevalent in obese women - larger robes/gowns are needed that look like everyone else's so obese women won't be so humiliated.

Big NSV!
