My husband and I are planning to undergo the vsg in a few weeks.  I am learning so much from this forum. From what I understand, water, water, water, protein, protein, protein.  Will vitamins be necessary, and if so, what is recommended?

Vitamins are necessary - I'd hope that your surgeon would have given you this info already considering you're only a few weeks out!

The ASMBS recommends a multivitamin with 200% of most vitamins and minerals.  In addition, calcium CITRATE (I take 500mg three times a day).  Other things like B12, D, and iron based on lab results.

We are still in the early stages, but we will be cash pay, so the process will be a bit quicker I suppose.  We meet with the doctor again next week for egd, etc.  Just trying to get my head wrapped around it all, and a list of questions/concerns ready for the doctor.  I appreciate your reply and the helpful link!

Gwen...What is the name/brand of the multivitamin that you are taking that has 200% of most vitamins and minerals? I am taking a gummy multi right now but it has nowhere near that amount. Now that you mention it, I do recall my nutritionist telling me that my multi should have 200% of most vitamins and minerals. Thanks in advance for your help. :-) Kay

Nope. It doesn't seem worth the risk.
