Looking for some high protein breakfast ideas. Right now I have been eating either eggs, sugar free oatmeal or non-fat cottage chesse and fruit.  I am currently in my 3rd month of my journey to hopefully having VSG surgery. Any suggestions or receives would greatly be appreciated.

I usually have roast beef and spinach for breakfast. There's no law mandating "traditional" breakfast foods

Thank you for the idea. Was just looking for some new ideas for breakfest  not per say " traditional" breakfast foods.

Sounds like you need to check out http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/

Search for ricotta pancakes and egg bites. The savory ricotta pancakes are one of my new favorite foods. I also really like the chocolate protein muffins. They are all low carb too!

I pretty much eat whatever `I want lol. When I'm at work I have a Light n Fit Greek yogurt, and an iced coffee with protein powder. I've made crustless quiche, which can also be made in muffin tins for individual servings. I love roasted veggies, and will put my leftovers into the quiche, or just with eggs and cheese.

I also eat reduced fat mozzarella string cheese, pepperjack cheese sticks, or sliced cheese with deli meat rollups. I like cottage cheese, but I prefer to eat it savory with garlic, onion, and chives.

I eat a decent amount of eggs and meat/poultry/fish.  I ate a lot if salmon (bumble bee packets in the beginning.  Or I'll buy a steak and spit it into 3 oz portions.  Or left over meat.  Also if my day is planned out to be low carb, Kay's Naturals make a series of cereals that have 12 grams protein and 18-19 grams carbs.  That way I have most of my carbs in one meal.  Good luck.

Steak is a staple. Ham if I want something cold. I grill up a big pile of sweet Italian sausage once a week, and those reheat in the microwave really well.

I've had a shake for breakfast almost every day since my surgery a year ago.  When I don't have a shake, I have leftovers from a previous meal, lunch meat, eggs, whatever is available!

I have this thing I do, inspired by Eggface.  Take a couple slices of deli ham, the really thin ones, and put a cheese stick down the middle, offset just enough so when you fold the ham over it's even.  (I usually cut the cheese in half lengthwise and put them on the ham side by side.)  Put mustard to taste (I use Gulden's) and I usually put a little SF apricot jam on as well.  Fold the ham slices over, and cook in a nonstick skillet for a minute or two on each side, just till the cheese melts.  This is very floppy, and although it looks like a taco, it doesn't hold up like one, so you need to use your spatula, or even a couple, to flip it.  Really hits the spot, though!

I also eat non-traditional foods for breakfast.  I often have salmon.  I make a crustless mushroom quiche where I substitute plain greek yogurt for the cream to keep the calories down.  Its not as light and creamy with the higher fat, but it is tasty.  Early out, I would have plain greek yogurt with protein powder and an artificial sweetener regularly.  It was a good way to get lots of protein in with few calories.

Best of luck,

Carol
