Hello everyone I am new to the site. My name is Wendi. I am in the early stages of the process to get the VSG surgery.  I have my mind made up just have to wait for the insurance requirements.  I am 40....will be 41 in 2 weeks.  I have 4 children ages 22, 12, 10, 9.  I am married to an amazingly supportive man who loves me unconditionally.  I have been obese/morbidly obese for my entire adult life.  As a child I was quite thin and could eat what I wanted, it caught up to me after my first pregnancy.  I currently weigh 289 pounds and my goal weight that I would be happy with is 170.  I am a Registered Nurse working in the NICU.  I am also a HUGE NKOTB fan and love talking about my guys!  I look forward to getting to know many of you, and picking your brains about the VSG.

Welcome Wendi. I am also looking to have VSG surgery.  I started my journey on Jan 15th and have lost 19 lbs so far. It's wonderful that your husband is very supportive. Good Luck with your journey.

Welcome Wendi

This site has been a wonderful support for me thru the weight loss process.  I'm almost 2 years post op, and in maintenance.  Weight loss surgery is amazing.  I never imagined it would be this successful.  I started at 385 pounds, and a BMI of 60. Currently, I'm 160 pounds and a BMI of 24. (which is NORMAL)

It isn't easy.  You've got to commit to the process and stick to your plan, but the surgery makes it possible.

Best of luck on your weight loss journey.

Carol

Welcome @Wendi74!  I feel a kinship with you as I am also 40 and weighed 288 at the start of this journey.  I had my surgery on October 6th and I am down 68 lbs so far.  I too have been morbidly obese my whole adult life, but I am starting to change that.  Good luck on your journey!
