Having Gastric sleeve, very nervous
I had mine done in Mexico on October 6th. I too was extremely nervous before surgery as I had never had any type of surgery before. The first month after surgery really sucked for me! I have a very weak stomach as it is and I didn't tolerate liquids well nor did I tolerate some of the foods and items that I had loved before the surgery, like milk and eggs. Both made me literally vomit. But I can eat them now and I have so much more energy. I have lost 66lbs so far and I absolutely do not regret going down this path. Just hang in there and realize that the first month may not be great.
I had my surgery on January 27 and have lost 50 pounds. I will admit that I started out as a "lightweight" with "only" 100 pounds to lose I was also very nervous before the surgery, especially after having some good weight loss on my pre-surgery diet made me ask the inevitable "do I really need to do this?". But I knew that the only thing fueling my willpower for the pre-surgery diet was the knowledge that after the surgery, I would have less hunger, less capacity and a strong plan and support to get me through the rest of my journey to living at a healthy weight for the rest of my life. No more yo-yo or disappointment when I lose 20 and gain 30. No more "oh what the heck, I'm fat as a house anyway, I might as well have another..." I'd have good reason to treat myself and my body as it deserves - with the right amount of healthy food balanced with the occasional small treat. My surgery and recovery went very smoothly - other than my weight I started out pretty healthy. Make sure you set yourself up for success by having clear instructions from your doc and nutritionist, all the supplies you need laid in and a good plan for your first weeks at home. Good luck!
