Recovery time off work

It took me a good 5 weeks to clear my head from the "anesthesia fog".  Others have returned to work within a couple of weeks and made some very dire errors at work for the same reason.  Quick and critical decisions or any analytical thinking is liable to be skewed for a few more weeks.

I was out for two and a half weeks since I had a rough recovery. (Opiate pain meds don't do jack for me, so I did the whole recovery on Advil.) I was exhausted for the next month, but at least I was OK to go to work (desk job).

I have a desk job and took 2 weeks off.  I was tired the first 2 days back at work.  But I was sick of being at home.  I had an easy surgery and recovery.  I was driving myself around 4 days after surgery as I was off pain meds.

I had surgery last Tuesday  and went back to work today. I work as a manager at a retail store. I was tired when my shift ended tonight but it was doable.

I felt "back to myself" after 5-6 days. But I had 2 weeks off. The first week including surgery day (a thursday) to the following weds. I worked from home the last week of my recovery.

I would say 2 weeks if you have an office job. I got min in late january and I was cooped up and my dad has to shovel a path for me to walk. It was hard. So while this time off feels exciting, i couldn't do a 3rd week off. and i'm someone who LOVES hanging in and watching tv and just relaxing. I was super bored.

Getting back to a routine is very helpful as you start life after surgery.

I took 3 weeks. The first 2, I was pretty limited in mobility. The 3rd one I took to get my routine down and plan and just get energy up. The first week back was still hard and I had to be slow and patient.

When I had my lap band, I only took 2 weeks off. I was ok to return, but just was not up to the fast pace at the office and got tired extremely quickly. When I have my revision, I plan to take 6 weeks off. I hope to be home for during November and December adjusting to the new me and getting myself back to 100% before returning in January 2016. We'll see if my plans work out! :)
