Do people who make their profile private think that people *****ad profiles are nosy?

Maybe there are things that they just want to talk about with their immediate circle, but not the public.

I respect people's opinions and right of privacy but I don’t understand why some people offer friendship and I can't view their profile...why would I accept their friend invite!?

Because once you are their friend, you can see their profile.   Having a friends only profile (which I have) allows you to put all sorts of personal information on there that you don't want to share with joe public/scammers etc.    I have pictures on there that I do not want public!

ETA:   You have to remember that this is a public board - you do NOT have to be a member to read on here and none of us know who is lurking!   Never put anything on here that you wouldn't advertise in your child's school/your church etc!!!!

It's exactly as Citizen Kim says. Some people are very private and somewhat uncomfortable posting on a WLS forum or putting any personal info online that anyone can access.

So, I don't think it's a matter of thinking people are nosy, but rather a hope to maintain some privacy while still being active on a WLS board.

Mine is the same reasoning as Kim's. Also if it is not set to friends only, your information and pictures can be easily found on Google.

One thing I didn't think about when I made my profile for friends only was that people who are not your friends can comment on your photos.  I'm sure you are smarter than me but I didn't catch that.  I had to contact OH for them to tell me to make my photos private.
