few questions post op
Thank you all for your replies. I ended up going to the ER last night because I was severely dehydrated. After two IVs, phenergan and morphine, I feel tons better. I am doing my best to sip constantly. My doctor did give me Relgan for nausea but the NP at the ER said it must have not been enough to combat mine. So she also gave me a prescription for Phenergan. I have to say, last night was the best sleep I have gotten since surgery. So I think the dehydration had a lot to do with it. I am still a little nauseated but do not want to get to where I was last night.
I have been sipping constantly. I know 8 cups is what is normal but for some reason my NUT told me I would only be able to hold about 4 cups at first.. I thought this was weird too. So I am aiming for the 8 cups. Once again thank you all for your responses and help!

Have stopped losing pounds but am losing inches!
For the first 5 days my surgeon's office plan was 46 ounces of liquid per day. They told me one ounce every 20 minutes while I was awake (had to stay awake enough hours to get to the 46!) and gave me little 1 ounce medicine cups to measure (they also sell those 1 ounce disposable shot cups at the grocery store). I lined up the 3 in a row and watched the clock, setting up new ones on the hour. (I also took a walk around the house very 20 minutes for the gas pain) I also found plain water a little hard to get down - I used vitamin water zero - orange flavor went down easiest, tepid peppermint tea, room temp liquids were easier for me, but others say really cold or really warm. I also love the unjury chicken soup, which I was able to start after day 5 - much easier to get down than a thick shake. After day 5, my liquid "speed limit" is one ounce per 5 minutes with a daily goal of 64 ounces - at that point I switched to larger cups and made sure I got in about an 8 ounce cup every hour - it took a little while to work up to that. Glad you are feeling better and hope the tips help.
