Plain Water vs. Tea ?

How does everyone feel about the minimum 64 oz of fluid a day? Is it best if it's plain water? I have an aversion to drinking the plain water. I think it's from all those years of Weigh****chers. I just got sick and tired of drinking tha****er. Also it makes me cold to drink water.  I can drink hot tea all day long though (decaf) without a problem. I'm not the world's fastest loser and I'm wondering if I'd do better if I was just able to force more plain water? How does everyone count their fluids?

As long as it has no calories, liquids are liquids as far as I'm concerned. And as far as my surgeon is concerned too!

You'll get differing opinions here...

this is what I do..

I drink a gallon (or more at this point) a day.

8 glasses plain water

6 glasses hot tea w/protein powder mixed in..(can NOT handle the cold shakes in winter)

4 cups ho****er mixed with 1 single serve crystal light

some (most) days 2 cups coffee.

my Drs of the mindset that getting the water in is what's important anyway you'd like..

I hate water.  I drink alot of tea - decaf and regular, and an iced coffee every day.   Once in a while I have plain water, but I don't enjoy it.  I used to drink water with meals, but that's not an option.  I think my nut once said you could count cafeinated beverages for 1/2 as water.  IDK, but I sympathize with you.  BTW, it had no affect on my ability to lose weight.

I agree with Gwen.  As long as it isn't caloric, any form of liquid counts.  I drink a combination of tea and water (flavored with Mio berry pomegranate) throughout the day and evening to get all my fluids in.  I average around 80 ounces per day.

Thanks. Most days I'm only getting 64-74 oz. in and that's about half tea/half plain water.
