How Much Iron and Calcium Did You Take?
Curious as to how many MG of Iron people took after VSG. My doc recommended bariatric advantage and I see it in 18mg and 29mg. Obviously 18mg is cheaper. Also how much calcium did you take? I see bariatric advantage has calcium chews in 250mg and 500mg. I think we have to take 3 doses daily and between 1200 and 1500mg. I'm just trying to find the best value out there. Some of this stuff you can buy will make you go broke!
I'm trying to do the same thing! My nut said to only take 500 mg of calcium at a time because your body can't absorb more than that. She also told me to just get a complete multi that you chew, I'm planning on getting the centrum complete chewable so much cheaper! And it contains iron. I've seen that some people take Tums as their calcium for the first month. Good luck!
Tums is calcium carbonate which we don't absorb well and can lead to kidney stones. Not a good option.
We need calcium CITRATE.

I know that wasn't recommended by my nut so I didn't research it, but she did say to try and stay away from gummies. I'm curious I seen the calcium citrate with vit.d in petite pills? Has anyone had trouble swallowing pills after surgery? And what options did you use?
I started out at 600 mg calcium w/ Vitamin D twice a day. With the ok from the PA, I only take one a day, as newer reseach indicates too much can be harmful. I don't take iron at all, and haven't since shortly after surgery, with the ok from the NUT. I am post menopausal, so don't slough off iron like I did when I had periods. I use women's 50+ mulitvitamins, that doesn't have iron. My labs have all been fine, and, especially earlier on, my go to for lunches and some suppers was chili, which has lots of iron. If I was pre-menopausal, I would take multivitamins with iron, unless my labs indicated I needed more. You may want to check with the NUT or surgeon on their recommendations.
