What was your first.....
My first soft food was tuna salad, I think. I just remember that being what I ate the most during my "soft food" stage. I honestly don't remember what my first "real" food was; I think maybe chicken or deli turkey or something like that. I pretty much only ate meat and cheese for the first 6 months, but I didn't care one bit about food so I didn't pay that much attention to what I was eating.
Funny story - I binge-watched the cooking channel during the 2 weeks I was home after surgery. Somehow it was comforting to watch other people eat even when I wasn't. haha.
I HATED the puree stage! I ate alot of sweet potato, pudding, cream of wheat (made with fat free milk), and I did puree my Progresso chicken noodle soup and bacon potato soup. My first real food was Salmon and it was wonderful! I'm still very careful what I eat and I'm already 11 weeks post-op. I haven't had any problems with getting sick or reaction to any foods. Take it very slow and do what the doctor says to eat. Good luck.
I made little ramekins filled with roasted sweet potato, egg, low fat cottage cheese, Truvia, vanilla and a pinch of salt pureed in my Bullet. Baked in 325degree oven until almost solid in the middle, cooled and topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
It went down great, had plenty of protein and totally satisfied my sweet tooth.
My other go to was homemade creamed spinach. It also had cottage cheese, egg but was savory with a little parmesan cheese and nutmeg.
Sort of like gourmet baby food.
