how many vsgs had your surgeon performed?

Just curious. My surgeon said he'd done 600. I didn't know if this was average or high?

To me that seems about average. I think the amount of surgeries performed will depend on a lot of things. As long as the surgeon has good reviews and is reputable then I wouldn't focus so much on the number.

Yes, dr Alvarez is really experienced and I think his surgical technique is really refined.

a few thousands but anything over 500 should be fine , if they did not perfect it by then they never will

He has done thousands.  This may also include DS as the first part is VSG.  He actually stopped doing bypass a few years ago so his practice is VSG or DS now.  He and another surgeon from Utah have been doing a modified DS surgery for a year.  It is still in research stage, but the article I read said it has less complications than DS and the results are very encouraging.
