They are driving me nuts!!! I feel famished. My boyfriend had a turkey bacon sand which on an onion roll.. And I kept kissing him so I could try and taste it. I still can't believe how hungry I have been! Wednesday I can have ricotta cheese.. ( not purée stage yet) but can have pudding, yogurt, puréed bananas and ricotta.. Maybe that will help. Any suggestions of getting through the first week?!

Are you taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium?  Hunger at this point is often just acid mimicking hunger and taking a PPI clears things right up.

Pepcid is an H2 receptor antagonist which works different than a PPI (proton pump inhibitor).  So you might have better luck with a PPI than an H2 receptor antagonist.  Regardless, you should ask your doctor, since if what you're taking now isn't working, you should get something different.

Good luck!

I tried 3 different PPI's before I found one that worked for me. It truly is trial and error. i almost gaurantee it is not hunger you are feeling, not true hunger any way.

Which ppi did you find to work best?

The one that worked for me was Pantoprazole Tab 40 mg. It is the generic for Protonix. Thankfully after about 12-18 months my body seemed to regulate itself and I no longer take it. Just need some tums or something on occassion.

I survived my first week by having soups pureed with protein powder added. Make sure the soup temp is less than 130 F or the protein is null. Greek yogurt with sweetener, sf jello & thank heavens for sf ice pops.

Pureed stage is worse for me. One more day to go & it's soft foods! You'll get there, just persevier.

Thanks! Some of the soups have been good.. Four more days until I can have yogurt and pudding.  Ahh wish I could have it now!
