Live alone and my bedroom is upstairs. Did anyone have issues with that?

I'm hoping to get surgery next month, and I live alone. My mom is thinking of coming up to help me, but she doesn't really like leaving home , and she is stressing over it. 

So after I get out do I really need someone with me? If so how long?   How difficult will I be able to go up and down a set of stairs ? My surgeon said it would be ok, but my mom .

If there are serious issues I can call 911, and for less serious I have a few friends that can take me in to Dr appts, in if I can't drive.

When I had my surgery I stayed with my mom but I think I would of been fine by myself at home. I slept a lot, and really didn't need help walking around or doing anything. I went back home after about 5 days and was home by myself. It all just depends on how well you feel after surgery. Everyone recovers differently. The only real issue to me about being home alone is being on the pain meds and not being able to drive. If you need to go somewhere you would just have to call someone and ask them to take you. 

You should be fine .... Stairs are no problem!

My recovery was really easy .... My gas pain was gone within 12 hours of surgery!  I had no trouble moving around and I didn't need help.  I went to Mexico for mine and was in San Diego 48 hours after surgery in a casino!  I didn't drive for a bit ... So stock up on things you will need or have a friend who can drive you places.

I had surgery Friday, home on Sunday and was driving myself around town on Tuesday.  And I bet I'm a whole lot older than you ;-)  

I didn't need anyone to help me at home and I could walk up and down stairs.  I wasn't bouncing up and down them but VSG does not require a major abdominal incision like a C-section.  

I would getyourself prepared at home with the liquids and foods you need.  My GERD was so bad right after surgery that I didn't even sleep in my bed for the first few days home.  I slept in the recliner (in the basement that I walked to on my own) or on the couch propped up with lots of pillows.  

I think you'll handle it just fine.  It might be more stressful to have your mom there! 

i had my surgery 3-1/2 weeks ago, and i had no problems going up and down the stairs. especially if there is a bathroom up there, too.

I had no issues with stairs. My bedroom is on the second floor. I did not take any pain meds at home. I was in the hosp 4 days (they required 3 but then they gave me a med that I had a reaction to).  I was a little nervous leaving the house alone for walks because of the low cals but I was just fine. After a couple weeks, my energy was up.

Have a recliner handy in case the stairs are difficult for a couple of days.  You can sleep there if you need to.

Have your mom on stand-by just in case, but if you can get your house well stocked before you go in with everything you need and some friends to check in on you, you should be fine.  You can drive when you're off of pain meds.

You'll be fine. The stairs might be a bit tiring, but that's all.

I live alone and I did not have anyone spend the night when I got home. I had friends and family stop by the first few days to check on me. I appreciated it, but did not need it. I wasn't allowed to drive for 10 days after surgery. I made sure I had my house spotless and everything I needed before surgery. You should be just fine.
