Be happy in whatever you decide Nikke. You look fantastic, and I don't see where you need to lose any more. 

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

It's a mind trip to have these "normal" numbers floating around and thinking everyone has to conform.  I think you look absolutely amazing at the weight you are now.  The plastics have given you a flat stomach and normal looking arms.  I think Gwen has a good perspective.  Maintain where you are right now, revisit in a few months when your body may settle in a bit more.  You're not going to be a regain stat because your determination is outstanding.

Thanks so much for the kind words and compliments!! I think I'm going to work on consistency at this point. I've been "maintaining" but in big swings of losses and gains. While I want to work on staying where I am right now... I'm going to work on not being either straight on the plan or "off the rails" so to speak!

Hi Nikke,

You are looking great.  You've done a marvelous job losing weight and your plastic results are amazing. 

I also struggle with what is a good goal weight. I originally set my goal in the overweight range, but I kept losing because I still had tummy fat.  Now I'm in the normal range.  I did a consult for a tummy tuck  and the doctor said that the excess in the belly is mostly skin and I don't have a much fat left to lose.  But I'm still feeling like I should lose weight.  I'd be thrilled if my belly looked like yours! 

Congratulations on your new healthy body.  You are an inspiration.

I think you look amazing. It is really difficult for me to comprehend that someone who looks like you do is still considered "overweight" by BMI standards. I'm not anywhere close to goal but I will share with you a couple of things my surgeon and my therapist have told me when we have discussed my goal weight. My surgeon's opinion is that my goal weight is the weight that I can comfortably maintain for the rest of my life and have a good quality of life doing so. Based on what you are describing it sounds like you might be there now. My mental therapist is always telling me that the number on the scale is only 1 data point. It is NOT the end all be all of my weight loss journey. Instead I need to consider all of the other milestones that I have set for myself with regards to losing weight (fitting into clothes, being active, travelling without difficulty etc). He strongly cautions me against getting so focused on the scale number that I negate the achievements that I have made elsewhere. 

I think Gwen's recommendation is on target. Maintain for a while and see if you are still concerned about losing more in a few months or year. I don't believe that anyone who has followed your progress or seen many of your posts will ever have anything but admiration and praise for everything you have accomplished. Personally, I hope my after pictures look as great as yours!
