Hello!  I am almost three weeks out and am able to eat some soft solids, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, string cheese, yogurt, egg whites..., my question is how many calories should I be eating.  I'm getting in my protein and water.  Was just curious where people are calorie wise.   Thanks for your responses.

My plan requires me to focus on protein and portion size.  I don't track calories.  I just make sure to eat 3 meals a day, no snacks, and focus on protein.

My nutritionist refused to give me calorie goals throughout my program and it drove me nutso!  At three weeks out I was typically close to 600 calories / day.  I slowly worked my way up to 800 / day and stayed there for a while.  It does depend on your hieght and activity level (to a degree), but I'd focus on getting AT LEAST 60 grams of protein / day -- 80 -100 is better.

Thanks so much everyone!   I am getting around 70g of protein each day and between 500 and 600 calories per day.   They had never mentioned calories but having lost weight so many times it's hard not to think about them.  I'll focus on protein and develop a new mind set!!   Thanks!

I was eating 600-800 and was told I needed more or my hair would fall out. Add snacks she said. So I worked up to 1000-1200 with 80+g of protein adding 2 snacks (typically a protein supplement) where I remained until I'd lost 95 pounds and bumped it up a bit to enter maintenance. I burn 400-500 5x per week in cardio which makes a small diff.

I am 3 weeks post-op. My doctor said to get 75 grams of protein in a day and at least 64 oz of water. I have noticed that since I entered the pureed food stage, this is coming out to be just under 600 calories a day. :-)
