Wow very interesting and informative.  I firmly believe in looking for the CAUSE of certain symptoms not just taking pills to suppress them.  Sometimes dietary changes are needed as well.  There is a coffee company where I live and EVERY time I drank their coffee I got HORRID acid attacks that day or a day later.  It wasn't immediate so I never connected the two.  Until I started logging and after a week of only about 2 attacks I traced it back to this coffee...haven't had a cup in 4 years.

Could you post this on the lap band forum if I knew how I would do it myself. There are sooo many of them with heartburn and silent GERD and they just don;t seem to "get it" that it can be really serious and potentially deadly! I and others would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Sadly I used to be an expert in the disease when my dad battled it from 2000 until his death in 2002. 90% of people diagnosed with ec in the US will die within a year because it is not diagnosed until it is too late. In China the rate of ec is much higher but 90% of those diagnosed there will live because they do endoscopies as part of their yearly physicals. Early detection is key.

Laura - I first learned from your prior posts about the connection between heartburn and cancer.  Until then I had never heard about it!

You provide valuable information when you share the sad story about how you lost your dad.  Here's hoping your experiences will save someone else
