I asked my surgeon and he said there's no need.  I agree with him.

I think its a personal choice. I frankly think its a good idea to let the paramedics/emergency room that we have had the sleeve and we can't have NSAIDS, or any allergies or deficiencies. http://www.laurenshope.com/category/87/medical-alert-jewelry-medical-id-bracelets-for-women

most surgeons allow nsaids , that's one reason people pick the sleeve

The ASMBS says that we shouldn't use them.

I know I'm late to the party, but when deciding whether to bother with a Medic Alert Bracelet, I read the Pros and Cons listed by Diminishing Dawn on her blog post. I think she sums it up quite well.

See for yourself. Medic Alert Bracelets, by Dimishing Dawn.

I personally opted NOT to get one after careful consideration.

Good article!

I want to get a RoadID just for races that has my name, emergency contact numbers, and my surgery.  But that's it and just for races in case something happens to me!

I absolutely love my RoadID. I have the interactive version, so the engraved tag has my name and Husband's phone number, and then I can update all of my health and contact information online-- there's a PIN on the back so a doctor can get all of my stuff (surgery, medication, more emergency phone numbers, doctors' contact info) online or by calling a 1-800 number.

Thanks!  I've been trying to decide on the interactive one or not, but you've sold me.  That sounds super useful!
