coming down to the wire

I fly to see my daughter in 6 days.  I haven't seen her in 8 months.  She flew to her base and a month later i flew to Tijuana for VSG. She has no idea i had the surgery.  No idea I've lost 95lbs since seeing me in February.  She will probably recognize my face still, but i want to walk totally past her in the airport before she recognizes me.  I was thinking maybe a scarf wrapped around my neck & lower face with shades?  What are your suggestions?

I know 95 lbs is a lot of weight, but I don't know how much you had to lose. If your overall appearance has changed dramatically I think instead of hiding myself behind a disguise, I would get all dolled up, looking my absolute best and see her jaw drop when she realizes it's you, otherwise I would wonder if it was the weight loss or the scarf and sunglasses that made you unrecognizable.

Oh yeah! Big, dramatic movie star shades, a big pashmina style scarf insouciantly wrapped around you, a nice shade of red lipstick, and stroll right past her Then sit back and watch her look around for you. Fun! Of course you have to take pictures and come and tell us about her reaction.

I looked up celebrities at airports and found that most of the women wear scarfs/pashminas, but a gorgeous hat might work too.  Good luck!

i normally wear jeans and a hoodie with a backpack strapped on when i fly to see her.  I went to body central today and bought a pair of jeggins, a nice sweater and a scarf, and a pair of ugg looking boots. I'm going to a friend's house so they can take a picture of me (only downfall of being single! ). Hopefully i can figure out how to post a before and after on here.  Thanks for the input. WLStruggles, i was 280 when she was home in February.  I'm down to 185. I have 15 more pounds to the doctors goal for me, but kinda got set back a little with breast cancer.  I was in a tight 24w pants and now I'm wearing 15 in misses (i think, whatever body central sells).  I like the idea of a nice hat, too. Definitely will do my makeup that day. Thanks again everyone.

I would love to see her reaction.  Is there any way someone could video it so you can share it with us?

I would get all dolled up too and walk right past her and then stop, waiting for it to register.  Priceless!!!

I love the fact that you hid this from her and will totally surprise her!  Good Luck!

I'll bet you won't have to do that much to walk past her....but I'll bet your uncontrollable smile will give you away no matter what you do.  It would for me, at least.

Does she know about your other surgery? I ask because if she knows, she might be really worried you've lost the weight because you're sick, instead of the WLS.

But other than that, I'd love to see how long it takes to register.
