3 days preop...feeling hopeless
so, i usually live a pretty uneventful life...but these two weeks before surgery have been anything but uneventful..my 6yr old first grade teacher quit after 4 days, daughter was scared of sub teacher, now has new teacher loves her, but cries and begs every morning to stay with me...im assuming this is due to surgery and her being scared about it, also her bff's mom died over the summer (cancer)..my husbands brother was diagnosed with leukemia and this has taken my husband away from home a bit more...car trouble..had uti waiting to find out if clear...and now my ekg came back as abnormal and had to go for a echo this morning, and will find out if im cleared for surgery late this afternoon...all of this piling up is either proving that im strong enough to handle things without being able to stress eat...or its telling me this is not the time to have this major surgery (also, this is my first surgery ever)... just feeling hopeless...thanks for reading...
I'm so sorry that you are facing all this stress at one time. The timing of everything is just coincidence. It sounds like you are handling all of it without resorting to using food and that's a great thing! Hang in there. Be kind to yourself and remember that you are doing this to be strong for yourself and your family when times like these come to you.
I'm 2 days away from surgery and it's my first surgery as well. Honestly I had some possie complications that made me think it wasn't time for surgery, but then I prayed about it (I haven't prayed in at least 4yrs.) and everything worked out. I'm sure you are strong enough to make it through this don't let anything stop u from working on your path to a healthier life.
Awe! Nicki stay strong! I do believe we get tested a bit to see if we're really ready to change our lives...if you can get through all of this without falling into the food, it just tells you that you really are ready! Keep your chin up! It will work out for sure!
Are you seeing a therapist? You're dealing with a ton of stuff, and that might really help both before and after surgery.

No doubt, thats a lot of stress going on. but the good news is usually these kind of things dont last too long, take time to remember not everything is in YOUR control here. Sometimes life just hands us one thing piled on top of another....It usually passes and works its way out. Please dont give in and stress eat. Keep focused on your goals. You are worth it. Eating troubles away leads to more guilt, more shame and it is self defeating. I dont know if you pray, but it might be a good time too. Dont be hopeless, this too will pass~
