I didn't. I had steri strips on my incisions. I was able to take those off a week after surgery.

Mine were glued shut, I didn't have to care for them at all beyond normal showering and keeping clean.

Hi - mine were glued shut. Took a few weeks from them to peel off.

Packing incisions is required when there is an issue with them pulling apart or infection.  when an incision doesn't heal properly for whatever reason they must heal by secondary intention, this means from the inside out.  They are packed to allow the wound bed to form layer after layer until the new tissue is even with the skins surface.  If the top skin layer is allowed to heal over the top of a hole the area becomes infected causing more problems.  if your incisions are closed together (well approximated as medical people say) leave them be.

I remember when my hubby had heart surgery and the incision on his leg didn't heal right I had to pack his incisions. .. but we get sealed and the 5 incisions are tiny the largest one is the one the tummy comes out of and that's maybe 2 inches not even if I remember correctly !!! :-)

That sounds like open RNY years ago.  Packing laparoscopic incisions would be very unusual.  They are tiny incisions and usually glued together or held together with steristrips.  They heal very quickly and should not need packing
