XP: Support group craziness

THANK YOU for this post!  I applaud your commitment to those of us in pre-op stages.  I, too, am amazed at some of the questions/comments heard in support group and even here on OH.  Everyone has their own baggage and trigger foods, and I am no different.  I am working very hard to understand my issues and build good lifetime habits now.

But when I read about someone who "doesn't eat much" and then goes on to list high carb/fat foods, I just scratch my head.

I am so thankful for the pre-op program, the specialists I'm working with and the education at my fingertips.

Good wishes to you and your continued success.

Tracy I personally think your a wonderful person with a very kind heart ... who's knowledge can help everyone whether it's Its. Group or here on OH and personally I don't really think it matters if your 3 months or 1 year or 5 years or 10 years out!!! If you have something that makes it easier on someone else and if your a nice kindhearted person then you will always do what you can to help!!! And that's you Tracy!!!

Wow congrats to the hubby also 64lbs I 4 months!!!! Wooot wooot way to go!!! :-)

If it makes you feel good trying to help those people in the long run then it's worth it!!

I can't understand why a bariatric support group would have a food focused event.

I know, right?  I delayed getting WLS for two years because the first "event" I went to with this group was their December meeting...and it was a potluck!  And the food people brought in seemed insane.  But what was worse was that I could see so many of them were still obsessed with food...they just weren't eating it.  And I didn't want to be one of those people.  I walked out of there and didn't come bac****il almost two years later.

Thank goodness it didn't derail you completely.  Glad you've been successful!

Wow !!! I hope I'm not out of place for commenting because I'm not even post-op yet but even I know that what you are describing is not good. I started looking into WLS about 1.5 years ago. I did all the research on the types of surgery available, qualification requirements, co-morbidity requirements if BMI
