My purpose of surgery, approaching 4 years out, with Pics!
Some of you know my story, and some don't and this post is for those who may be questioning their decision for VSG or wondering if it gets easier. Each of us has our own reason to choose bariatric surgery. I was miserable, depressed, avoided being out socially, had back pain, pre-hypertension, and was constantly exhausted. I was unhealthy and hated it. But even more importantly, I wanted to be a veterinarian and that involves standing for long periods for surgery.
I will be 4 years out this December, I have hit bumps here and there, its definitely not the "easy way out", but I am so thankful everyday for making this decision. I have easily maintained about 100% of my weight loss these 3.75 years.
This post is mostly to give the newbies motivation, because seeing other peoples stories, reasons for surgery, and photos kept me going. I will be performing my first live animal surgeries next semester, and heading to clinical rotations in December, and without making this decision and taking this step I could not be the success I have become, nor founded a very demanding, 24 hour, Emergency animal rescue organization here in the Caribbean (SAFE St. Kitts). No way, no how!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE MOTIVATION! Like you probably had, I had tried everything and was at rock bottom when I decided to seek out surgery. I just got my date (August 13th), and I'm starting to wonder if it will really work for me. I am having a very hard time wrapping my head around this working when nothing else has. I also can't imagine how this will last when nothing else has, you know? Thank's for giving me a reason to believe it will!
Hijack;
Hey, try not to beat yourself up with self doubt! Remember, we ALL failed to manage our weight prior to surgery, tanked a million different diets, and struggled constantly with food choices. It is really tough to wrap your head around the changes (physically) that the surgery will kick in for you, and there is absolutely no reason to think that you will not be 100% succusful in your journey! I was in a very dark place prior to surgery and NEVER thought I would make it to goal... I was just hoping to lose enough to be able to move better. What you are experiencing right now if very typical so hang in there!
