Newbies -- Recommendation re: buying new clothes along the way
Listen to Stacy. I didn't buy many clothes as I went down in sizes, but I still bought more than I needed. As she said, a few things I never wore, and a great many I wore very little.
Save your money until you are sure you are done losing. I bought a bunch when I reached my goal, then kept on losing and dropped a couple more sizes. I wish I had waited.

$10 target t-shirts are great...they are my work wear, casual wear, and the too-big ones become workout/sleep wear too.
I will NOT skimp on bras though. At least the band needs to be right...I wait until the cups are obviously too big, but my ladies need proper support and I am willing to pay for that every couple of months.

I switched to one size fits all skirts and I'm so glad I did! I also have a closet full of t-shirts thanks to my partner. So all I've had to buy is undergarments and exercise clothes. Thank goodness!
For fancier stuff, I like Gwynnie Bee. If I had a professional job, I'd use Gwynnie Bee for all my work clothes.

This is something I have been thinking a lot about as I get closer to surgery. I already have plans to visit thrift shops and consignment stores in the nicer towns near me and maybe sign up for Gwynnie Bee for a while. Once I am at goal I will build my permanent wardrobe. 😊
Oh gosh, maybe it's because I'm in my late 40's and have been battling this a long time, but I've already got at least 6 different sizes in my closet! yeah, I think I finally threw away the 10's and 12's I wore briefly some time in the ninetys, but aside from that, I'm good for a while! My surgery is Sept. 4th and I have about 100 pounds to lose. I need to start going through the closet and organizing sizes!
LOL - I'm with you zoomom07. I've got a stockpile of sizes already, and have been enjoying working my way back down through them already :-). But I admit I have LOVED going in and trying on new, smaller sizes, even though I am very early on in my journey. Every time I put something on and think 'no, that's too baggy' I am immediately putting it in the 'give away pile.
I'm in the same boat. Have all different sizes all over my house, though i'm sure the smaller sizes are way out of style. Maybe they're so far out, that they'll be back in again. I got some cardboard boxes and need to start sorting by size. I'm waiting to meet the surgeon and am afraid I won't get approved for surgery. But, this at least gives me something fun to do in the meantime. (OK, the cleaning isn't fun; the dreaming about wearing smaller sizes is!)
I bought a few things the other day that have those strings in them so they will last a bit....just picked them up at Walmart on the clearance rack...as temporary item I think it was a good investment. Also I watched Clinton Kelly on Racheal Ray prior to surgery and he talked about how so many women after losing a significant amount of weight just rush out and spend a small fortune on a new wardrobe. A great alternative is getting existing items of clothing tailored....I work at a bank and have many expensive blazers and for 20-30 dollars I can turn them into a new size granted I won't do that until I reach goal and will probably make due with a couple inexpensive ones from kohls or Ross along the way ...but it's a great idea down the line.
