Newbies -- Recommendation re: buying new clothes along the way
For those of you pre-op or recently post-op, this is a recommendation for you. You likely will not believe me. I heard the same thing from people and didn't listen.
You are going to lose weight. You are going to need new clothes. You are going to love buying new clothes. You are going to be eccstatic that you can buy size 14, 12, 10 or whatever size is new to you.
Don't go crazy buying new clothes! You wont believe it, but you wont be able to wear them very long. I seriously have clothes that I was only able to wear once or twice. Buy a couple of pairs of jeans / pants and shirts you can mix it up with.
I feel like I have been cleaning out my closet for the past 6 months. But I have been refilling it and now am cleaning it out again. It's a good thing, but if I had listened to people, I would have saved myself a lot of cash.
Enjoy the ride & the shopping. Just don't buy too much! You can be so much pickier now because there are so many more cute choices. Oh and Old Navy is great for cheap cute stuff. It doesn't matter if the quality is lacking b/c the clothes wont fit you for that long!
YEP!!! I am blasting through clothes like crazy. I now do a lot of shopping at consignment shops/thrift stores because my sizes are changing almost weekly (and I can actually find my size in these stores now). I started out wearing a 5X-6X/36-38W. Today, I am wearing a Large shirt and size 12 shorts and both are a bit "loose". Just last week, they fit perfectly.

I was still wearing 4X clothes at 160 pounds lost. Then....it all went crazy. I belted clothes and at one point I actually used a binder clip to tighten up pants that were just too big. I don't have a lot of flexible cash to be able to plunk down on clothes, so I wore things until I just couldn't anymore. Once I hit a size 20, it seemed like I was literally melting away and have burned through sizes like a crazy person. I could actually wear a smaller size or two than I currently do, but I have a LARGE amount of excess skin that I literally "have to tuck" into my clothes in order to be able to zip.

What I did was every time I went down a size, I'd buy two pairs of pants and two bras in my new size, keep the two pairs in the size one up from my size and get rid of anything two sizes two big. Tops were more forgiving so I'd keep them until they were just enormous.

I can't do the used clothes thing.... kinda creeps me out....
I found some $18 pants online I liked and bought a pair to "evaluate".....
Liked them and ordered every size from 48" down to 32" and burned through them all, sometimes skipping sizes and most never got more than one wash.
Than gave them to a homeless shelter.
Another thing I did was buy a "step-less" belt, one that I could just keep cutting shorter and shorter....
Now I have more clothes than the law allows..... closet full of new clothes with tags still on them and don't even remember buying most of it..... but it's nice because it's like shopping at a store that I like everything and it's in my own closet !!!
I'm just making up for the many years I didn't buy many clothes because I was to fat for nice things.....
