Did Not think I would be here again?...
I had lap band surg July 16, 2008. I lost 100 pounds and got pregnant with my amazing baby boy that is now 2 and half. I have gained all my weight back but about 30 pounds, I am now starting liquids again on Thursday the 31 and will be having my band removed and the sleeve done. I'm pissed, sad and scared all at the same time. I have an amazing Dr and trust him 10000000% but just but being back at the start of this again hurts a lot. I'm at mommy now and I know I need to do this for him and myself, If this does not work I don't know what I'm going to do. I am not telling a lot of people this go around at all, I don't want to be watched like I was last time. Has anyone else done this or need in my shoes? Am I being just a big baby?
Lots and lots and lots of people have needed to have the band removed. And it's not because they've failed the band, but because the band has failed them. And it seems like many get revision to sleeve. So you're not alone!
I don't blame you for telling a lot of people this time around, especially if you had bad experiences telling them with the band. I hope that you do tell a few people who are supportive, because it's good to have a cheering squad :)
You can do it. You'll rock your sleeve and the way you feel now will be a distant memory.

I had the band as well. It never worked for me unless it was so tight that I threw up all the time. I got it removed June 25 and got the sleeve. I don't want to create hubris by proclaiming that it's the best thing since sliced bread, but I'm down 26 pounds in nearly a month and the restriction is great! (And instant, as opposed to Bandster Hell.) Good for you for not giving up!
Tiffany, I don't think you're a big baby. I can't even say how many times in my life I lost a significant amount of weight, only to gain it all back with even more; hurt, angry, frustrated, defeated? Yah, I know how you must feel. Sometimes I let years go by before coming up with the courage to try again. The chance for victory comes with the trying...Sounds like you're there. In all of my defeated attempts to lose weight and keep them off- well, there were lessons to be learned in how NOT TO DO IT! I don't know what your experience was with the lap band, but am sure there are lessons to be learned to take with you in your sleeve journey. ALL WLS can be eaten around! The sleeve will not save you- use it to help you as you commit to daily and forever effort to treat your body, soul and mind the way they are meant to be treated- with love and respect. Good luck this Thursday- heal well and stay posted. Bonnie

I too had the band in 2008 Was totally successful with it and then became pregnant. After pregnancy it never worked correctly again. I just had it removed in April and had the sleeve done beginning of July. I feel your pain and am in your shoes.
Our kids deserve the best us. So if it means starting again so be it. We got this!
