I have emailed my Dr and am waiting for him to reply, but I thought I would ask here too. I had VSG on thursday and today my face is bright red and HOT HOT HOT. Am I having an allergic reaction to meds? Has anyone else had this?

It does sound like a reaction to me..

what types of meds..take some liquid Benadryl..

i suggest if the symptoms get any worse,  even just slightly

to get yourself to the emergency room.

I had moments of being SUPER flushed in the face and chest. I kept taking my temp!

I am fair skinned an flush easily to begin with, I just figured it was my body working really hard to heal. I wasn't taking meds when this was happening.

Its probably fine. Good luck!

I had surgery with Dr Alvarez as well in December.  He told me that the flushed face was from him oversewing the staple line. He said it was a totally normal experience and should be gone in a few days.

Awesome to hear. Thank you. I appreciate the comments about the Benadryl too, though I am going to wait to hear from him before I put one more drug in my body! I feel like I'm on overload as is!

Are you possibly allergic to your pain meds?

At any rate...call your doctor.
