Hello,

I am sorry to read that you are struggling.  I do love to see in your post that you know what to do and that you are able to start your day off in a good place.  I can relate to struggling with eating as the day goes on, and find it helps tremendously if I plan on activities that are effective for me- which is just about always going for long walks and such. Beating yourself up over the gain will not help you take it off- be gentle with yourself and make sure to stop and note all of the little things that you are doing well!  Hang in there!

Hi,  Thank you for your lovely words of encouragement.  It is so easy to fall back to old ways, but I need to stop and get back on track and what better day than today.  I went out to the beach my place to relax and not think about anything, and realize that if I don't buy it I can't eat it so it's all up to me and no one else.  So far so good and I plan on getting these extra pounds off - won't be easy or as quickly as before but I am determined.  Thank you again.

Others have given you great advice for getting back on track, however, I would like to address another issue that should come before trying to straighten out your eating. That is forgiveness. You need to forgive yourself. Period. Forgive yourself for being human, for not being able to completely erase those old habits, and anything else you may be beating yourself up about.

Obesity is a chronic disease. It can be controlled but will always be in the background waiting for us to get into a vulnerable spot, much like a tobacco or alcohol addiction. I know they are different but you get the idea. Weight loss surgery does not cure that.

Most of us have been emotional eaters so of course it is easy to fall back into some of those patterns. What do you do? Recognize the emotions, deal with them, and get back on plan. Sometimes it is ok to not expect yourself to be perfect at first but to begin making progress. I have been at your spot and sometimes I needed to use a very strict plan, other times I just had to begin making progress. If that is the way you need to handle it don't let anyone make you feel guilt. What works for one is not always what works for you.

The point I am trying to make is that if you don't forgive yourself for getting into this position you will continue to beat yourself up and that will cause you to give up entirely, with time. Gosh, if we were perfect and could handle our eating perfectly we sure wouldn't have needed wls, would we?

WOW - thank you so much for what you wrote.  You hit the nail on the head, I have to stop beating myself up over this cause that's only making me eat even more.  I took a few steps backwards and fell into old habits, but that's behind me now and I started a new today.

I've been watching what I am eating staying on plan and realize I actually feel better physically without all those carbs.  Food is an addiction, but unlike people who smoke or drink we need food to survive it's not that easy to just cut it off completely like cigarettes or drinking (not that people who do either of those have it any easier trying to quite).

But you are so right, beating myself up is not helping!!  Again, thank you for all your encouragement and continued good luck with your weight loss.

What fantastic advice from your friends and supporters here.  I am only newly sleeved but I value all these words of wisdom shared with you here. Sounds to me like taking all the above to heart will help have you back on track in no time. Get rid of anything around you off plan and have plenty of healthy options available, so if you are hungry and needing something your options available support good choices. I believe for myself that carbs cause craving and I think Carol has good points for you to consider. It might be a rough few days getting the carbs detoxed but then you will flourish! Best wishes, you can do it!

The people on this site are the best - the words of encouragement helps in so many ways.  Everything that has been said is so true and believe me hits home.  I started today in the slumps but after reading all of the messages I received my spirits are up and I am on the right road once again.

Carbs are a killer, but I am determined to get this additional weight off.

I want to wish you all the best on your weightloss adventure and remember you have a lot of friends on this site.

Best.

Sorry you are having a hard time just take it one day at a time. Maybe try planning your meals the night before and when you feel the dreadful snacking feel take a walk even a short one just to take your mind off. Also have premade pre packaged healthy snacks ready to grab.  Good luck to ya hope it works out. I feel you made the 1st step by reaching out. Hang in there you can do it!
