I had the same experience with my pcp, in fact he went so far as to recommend a different network/hospital than his own due to the other hospital having a better pre-education and post-op support/follow up. You should do what is right for you, if you are ready, the tool will work.

He said the odds of me dropping 200 lbs were next to zero and keeping the weight off was virtually impossible (said in a kind way - I'm paraphrasing) and that w/wls I'd have a great chance to lose as much as I wanted and have an easier time keeping the weight off.

I'd like to second the notion that in addition to the weight loss, I've learned much about myself and my relationship with food (during my short journey).

My cardiologist mentioned it to me. PCP - love him - was very supportive and has a lot of experience with patients and the paperwork and the requirements, etc. I'm lucky to have a really good team.
