Yah, so life is about this- post sleeve....
So, I'm about a year and a half "post sleeve"- at goal, and in maintenance (10#'s under goal) for about 10 months out now)...What is it all about now? the weight loss...the clothes...the comments...attention...the thrill of accomplishment.... the mirror...health....OK- , so i'm at the insurance office, and some guy 'hits' on me--what's all that about? Cripes , I'm 59 years old! i don't even know where I'm going with this----only to say that, what reason ever I thought I was going into this surgery for, I am re-evaluating it now. It is all so much more-- today, it was all about ( Spiritual.. primal ? ) ---- I found myself out in my husband's garden pulling up grass and weeds out of his green beans, and it occurred to me- " this is why I had this surgery- not for the clothes I can buy where ever I want- not because people look AT me- not just just past me- not any of all kinds of NSV's that we all have - experienced, but , just simply, because-- yah, I can BEND OVER and PULL GRASS out of a row of green beans-- I a m living- TRUELY LIVING- Can spend 3 hours in a garden -in soil picking green beans.... Just feeling grateful for my sleeve. ----bonnie

For string beans & living life- our everyday reasons for the sleeve! I went to the zoo this weekend and was not tired. For keeping up with my 2 year old grandson and to be blessed with this new energy- that's the truth of the sleeve for me. You are right, Bonnie- all of those other things are nice but they are not really the boost of real life lived everyday because we can do it.

I loved this post. Yes, its about the little things - weeding the garden, picking the green beans.
Your message spoke to me, as I am now in maintenance and it isn't about weight loss anymore (though I do want to lose a few more pounds.) My life is very much the same - same family, same friends, same job, same coworkers, same struggles, same insecurities, same life. I am healthier and have more energy and that is good. But ultimately, what does it mean? When all is said and done, its about bending over and picking the green beans.
