A failure turned into a SUCCESS!!!
So I had planned to run 7 miles tonight and was shooting for 70 minutes. I thought it would be relatively manageable based on my running lately. But let me tell you getting through the first 3 miles was tough -- lots of pep talks etc.
I hit 3.5 miles right at 35 minutes and was on track - timewise - bodywise I was not. I knew I could not keep pace. I was tired, had a stomach ache - yadda yadda yadda. I almost quit, but I didn't. I slowed down, I finished the 7 miles. It took me 72 minutes (just under), but now I am happy. I can check this off of my training plan.
I have quit in the past when I didn't reach a specific goal. I need to be a bit easier on myself. My runs are going to get longer and long (training for the Chicago Marathon) and I need to be content with them not being the fastest.
Passing out in the shower afterwards was interesting -- I think I may need to incorporate some carbs before these longer runs. Ok Dinner time :)
I have never been a runner even in my healthy days, so I admire your strength and determination! I think some fuel before you run may be in order, passing out is scary! Nice job on your successes :)

Oh my gosh - 7 miles in 72 minutes is FANTASTIC!! As someone how absolutely HATES running and NEVER aspires to be a runner, I give you huge kudos for how committed you are too this.
And yes, if you are going to continue to train for distance running you need to incorporate some carbs before your run. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself when you fainted in the shower!
Thanks :)
I really need to focus on the successes and not set unrealistic goals.
The shower tuing was odd. Im glad I didnt bust open my nose or anything. I just have a nasty bruise on my shoulder. I fell into the bath faucet. I know its because of my blood pressure. I need to be more careful when standing up.

I can't even imagine 7 miles in 72 minutes. Way to go!
