Yes, I am well fed....

So my husband and grown son are chowing down on some true goodies... meatloaf, rice, green beans in bacon, homemade buttermilk biscuits  , and some dynamite gravy - yah, that I made.  17 months out, I can eat all that stuff---some of it slider enough that a lot could be consumed without much discomfort... love it all (not humble here- I am a good cook and baker)--Someone posted a "food resentment" post a few days ago, and i really relate.  I knew if I chose ( in maintenance- so food choices are a little bit different from those who are still in WLmode-) to go with what I made, while the volume would be fine, (thank you, sleeve), the calorie- carb count would be totally inappropriet.  SO- I made a "gourmet" salad instead--raw zucchini, avocado, marinated artichoke hearts, chicken thigh, sprinkle of cheese, strawberry out of our garden,Asian sesame dressing...more, more, more...yada,yada...What i ended up with will make for 3 or 4 meals.  The taste- unparalled.  Time was I was a volume eater...the more, the perceived satisfaction.  Today, I focus on quality...  Deprived?  I think NOT!

Good post!  I wish I could cook healthy (yes I can but don't want to learn at this stage.)  I can make great high carb meals that I love.  I just have chosen not to cook at all any more except Holidays, still turkey or ham for me.

I love cooking and I love having complete control over what I put in my body.  Quality over quantity is so important!

I eat and have eaten every food you have mentioned (in maintenance)...... but, not your cooking of course and I believe you that you are a "great" cook and baker just from how descriptive you are !!!!

I am very much enjoying my newer more educated approach to food also.

Quality, taste, texture, flavor, dimension, fats & acids, crunch and chew, salt and sweet.

Thin sliced flank steak marinating right now in the secret sauce !!!

I have a good , university chum, whom I remember-- (years ago, now, 40 years now-)--- eating a meal- can't remember what it was now...he took a bite- closed his eyes, and chewed... the satisfaction =the bliss-   I wondered at that the time, " what was that all about?  what was the big deal in that one bite?"   I KNOW NOW!

This is why variety in my diet is so important to me, especially now that I can have so few bites.  Each one has to be amazing. :D

I remember being served tiny food at upscale restaurants..... ya know, big plate, three

tasty scallops and some sauce on the plate.

Than stop by McDonald's on the way home.

Little did I know that was the way to go.....!
