Dehydration? When to seek help?
Surgery was Tuesday, but they only kept the IV in until Tuesday night. It was making my arm swell and they said that it had to go. I think I was doing fine until this afternoon. Now nothing tastes good, I can't stand the sweetness of any flavored crystal lights, and my stomach feel sick thinking of protein drinks. I feel lightheaded and dizzy, and just want to lay in bed. my brain is also kind of fuzzy, I can't do simple math and weird things like that. This is a change for me, I had been doing really well.
Of course it's Friday night, and the doctors office is closed. Do I try to keep sipping until Monday morning? At what point do you have to go back in for IVs? My mouth is not totally dry, but I haven't had to Urinate most of the day.
opinions?

I would be going now. Can you get an IV at your local out patient care type of place? Or do you need to go to ER?

I was just in the ER Monday morn and night with this issue. It led into a bad UTI as well. I started to run a fever, and felt like a truck has ran me over. Don't let it go too long. Just go to the ER and have them check you out to be safe. If IV fluid if needed, it only take an hour or so for a bag. Well worth it.
I called my surgeons exchange and they had no idea who was on call. They tried calling my surgeon but he never responded. I ended up in tears. My husband helped me take a Zofran, and got me a glass of plain ice water and said I couldn't go to sleep until I finished at least half of it.
I did that (it took a while) and I went to sleep.
I've been up twice during the night and pee'd both times though it was pretty concentrated. I'm less nauseated now and am on my second sf Popsicle.
I will see how I feel in the morning. My greatest concern is that none of the surgeons called back. That seems totally unprofessional and dangerous not to have even a nurse on call.
Thanks for your replies. This fluid thing is way harder than I imagined.
