Surgery is tomorrow morning, and it's national nurses day!
Here I am, just about 13 hours until surgery. I'm so nervous I can hardly stand it. I work in long-term care, and just realized that tomorrow is national nurses day! Wondering if I should bring a little treat or something for the nurses. I won't have anywhere to carry them nor will I feel like it, but it might be nice.
Any advice for sleeping tonight? Any last-minute words of wisdom? Thanks so much to all of you who have posted to my frequent questions lately. Totally appreciate you guys. I am so very ready to begin this new phase of my life. I am ready to get healthy, and physically fit.
See you all on the other side, save me a spot on that bench!

You will do great! Can't give advice on the sleeping part because I only got about 4 hrs the night before - do the best you can. Do some slow, deep breathing if you get to anxious. Seriously, it helps.
You can bring a gift but you may be too out of it to give it to the ward nurses tomorrow. Plus, it's more to carry. Take a card, maybe?
Let them know in pre-op that you are having anxiety, they will help you through it. Let your doctor know. And know that you are completely normal.
It will be over before you know it and you will be relieved. Best wishes!

You'll do great Renee. If you feel overwhelmed, make a joke. Or take pictures of your feet with the hospital socks on and post it to Facebook and pretend that you're on a beach somewhere. The worst part is pre-op in between procedures and administrative stuff. If you keep yourself busy you'll get through it just fine!
Sandy I like the gray ones ... mine where where yellow! !! Lol
Best of luck Renee and a very speedy recovery.. As far as sleep sorry again no help here it felt like the night before Christmas to me and I was a child waiting to get downstairs.... if I got 3 or 4 hours that's a lot... you will sleep during the surgery and after don't worry!! Talk to after your sleeve... :-)
Renee,
Best of luck tomorrow!
As a nurse, especially in the surgical areas? A genuine, "Happy Nurses Day!" and "Thank you for what you do!" would brighten their day! You don't have room to carry anything...and when you are all done? Fill out whatever surveys they send, and a letter written to the hospital, even just mentioning specific departments (they can easily look up who cared for you in the medical record,) gets us recognition. That reminds me! I need to write MY letter to the rockstar hospital I was in last week!
:)
Thanks everyone!! I took a shower and my mom stopped by and brought me a little gift. I just tucked my girls in bed and am feeling a little queasy. Just nerves I'm sure.
I loved the socks picture!!! I'll remember to do that tomorrow!!
Thanks for all of your inspiration on this board and thanks for holding my hand the past few days. I'll talk to you all soon!!
