How soon after surgery do you start losing? How often do you weigh?

I'm one of those who weigh in every day ...I probably shouldn't but I do...  The day I came home I was down... and just about every day except this past week I have been... I was at a stall for 1 week... but don't make the mistake I did Ibforgot to take measurements till about 2 to 3 weeks ago take them now so that when u do stall you will still see the inches dropping...  best of luck....:-)

It took about a week for me to lose any weight after surgery, and that was just a couple of pounds. Then I started losing faster in the second week. Even in maintenance, I still weigh every day. It helped me to see little trends when I was losing the weight and keeps me on track in maintenance. There were times when I think I might have been better off only weighing in once a week, especially when it took a few days for the scale to move again. I tracked my losses, then I could see what was my normal in losing the weight, which was to not lose any weight for a few days at a time, then lose several pounds really fast. That really happened during my time of the month and I still have more fluctuations during that time even though I pretty much eat the same things most days.

Most people gain because of the surgery, and it might take a week or two to lose that weight. Then there is often a stall at three weeks. So if it freaks you out, you might want to wait until the end of the first month to weigh.

My case is a little different because I was in the hospital for 11 days due to a leak from having my GB removed. Some days I was taken off of fluids all together and was NPO and the rest I was only to have a clear liquids diet. By the time I got home I was down almost 20 lbs. Now I weigh myself everyday.

that is great that you lost that much in your pre op.  I don't think I"ve lost anything.  Simply because I have been as diligent in my liquid diet as I should have.  But I'm still confident everything will work out.  CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!

Please make sure your surgeon knows about your lack of diligence in your pre-op diet.

I'm hesitant to do that because I don't want them to change my surgery date.  I just cannot change it.  I know I should have done my part.  But I haven't been overeating at all.  The nurse called me this morning about my B-1 levels are low.  They are going to have me on a B-1 IV as soon as I arrive to boost it.

Also, at my last informational class, the Nutritionist and the Nurse both said that the most important thing is not to have gained any weight between approval date and surgery date.  I'm confident I have not gained any weight.  Just as I am equally confident that I have not lost any weight because I haven't been 100% strictly liquid diet.  But I haven't gone crazy eating either.  My surgery is Wednesday.  I'm following the diet today and tomorrow and I'll weight my self Wednesday morning before I leave for the hospital.

One of the reasons for the liquid diet is to shrink your liver to make the surgery more safe and you run the risk of having not done that due to your lack of compliance.  For your safety, your surgeon really should know about this.
