I just feel happy!

So this is an odd post, but I really feel like sharing.

I was very depressed that last couple of years.  I got divorced about 2 years ago, lost about 60 lbs in about 3 months, then put it on plus 10 over the following 9 months.  The last year (prior to surgery), I was struggling to lose weight and struggling with depression.  I started anti- depresents and found a great therapist.  I still wasn't able to overcome my weight issues, but was able to find a solution (a tool + hard work).

Last week I left my antidepressants at my first hotel of the week, and just didn't get around to filling a new prescription.  I was worried I would feel horrible side effects from going off of them so suddenly, but I haven't.  I am feeling fantastic.  I think it is a combination of being healthier, the sun being back (wohoo spring), and all the endorphines I am getting from the gym.

I'm meeting w/ my PCP next week to get my labs done, so will discuss with him, but I think I am out of my depression.  It is crazy!  I'm just content with life.  I'm single and totally happy being single (and selfish -- I am allowed to be selfish b/c it's just me ;)

Well that is my little happy dance for the day.  (I'm even on a crappy project at work, but still enjoying the people around me).

knock on wood the happiness is here to stay.

If you have suffered from depression in the past, you can probably relate to the clouds lifting a bit :)

Congratulations! What a great feeling!

I agree about summer helping. In general I am a happy person, but went through a funk almost a couple years ago for a few months because of a death, but now that I'm losing this excess weight, which is boosting my energy, along with the changing season I am feeling incredible lately.

Bring it on summer ;)

This is so fantastic!  I've battled depression off and on for most of my life, so I totally get what you're saying.  It's awesome to have that realization of "oh!  I actually feel pretty awesome right now!"

I'm so happy for you :D

That is great news.  You can read the happiness in your post.  Sometimes, as we travel through the valley, we need the extra help.  But it sounds like you're on top of the mountain and doing just great.  Way to go!  I stopped my antidepressants in the same way....just stopped taking them.  Maybe it's the exercise, the weight loss, etc., but the sense of well being feels good.
