My partner and I did Body For Life for a while, which has a cheat day.  The problem was that cheat days became insane orgies of gluttony and it actually damaged our eating habits for years and years afterward.

Yup.  And then you develop the attitude that you "deserve" this, or you shouldn't deprive yourself of reward etc etc.  The the spiral begins.  You have to stay vigilant for sure!

Sure you can.  Allow me to introduce you to the Devil....aka "The Chocolate Milkshake".  Some other demons include cookies, cake, chips, but there are many more.

If short, you can cheat if you want.  Vigilence, and remembering that you aren't cured, is what's needed.

This will remain a life long stuggle; however, the struggle is much more fun looking at it from the skinny vs. obese point of view.

I have a friend who has a cheat day. BUT!  and this is the big caveat, she is so flipping disciplined that her cheats are just regular meals for everyone else.

I think there has to be a balance somewhere.  We all need an indulgence, but the problem with indulging is that for me when I do indulge it leads to an avalanche simply because I crave sugar.  If I could handle the indulging occasionally I wouldn't have had to have surgery.

ultimately, it is about discipline. I have to be disciplined and conscious of what I eat and how much I go to the gym.

Weekends are especially hard for me, since it takes me out of my obsessively regimented diet..

what I do now, after a little trial and error is if the weekend is a busy one and I may or may not eat out, or not scheduled

i have only my protein tea in the morning..that way I know that even if I'm not eating at home, I will still be in my calorie range just b/c I can't eat that much in one sitting..it's working for me...

tried the cheat day thing OH HELL NO!! Turned into a cookie, caramel popcorn orgy...they are slider foods for me..

lesson learned...it's like telling a junkie..you can have a little crack...

Totally agree no such thing as a little of the bad stuff. I have a question... what is protein tea? Is that just tea with a protein powder or liquid added? Thanks

Yes I micro up some tea in a glass Pyrex measuring cup (2 cups)

in the mug I'm going to use I put 1/4 cup cold water and a scoop of protein powder then whisk the hell out of it

it will look like runny pudding, when my tea is ready I whisk the tea into my mug..

I used to have my tea with 1/2 & 1/2 and 2 Splenda ,

now I don't use any of that..the protein powder makes it sweet enough for me.

When I did weigh****chers I would eat as much as I could the day that I got weighed in.Ate after the weigh in.I would then eat up until two days before I had to get weighed.I would totally dehydrate myself so I would weigh less.

Needless to say I no longer award myself with food. I will award myself with jewelry or shoes.Or new clothes. But only if I have the money for them.
