Don't like to be the harbinger of bad news, but ab work won't do a lick to firm or tighten your loose skin. Sorry! It will help firm up the abs and define your and flatten your waistline, but nothing for the skin. Keep doing it, though. You'll feel great and you will look better with a firm waistline! Just don't expect the skin to get tighter form the exercise.
I know - sucks, but it's true.
I'll echo wait Kairk said - do those ab exercises because you want to build a strong core that supports your body, helps your back and holds your internal organs in place. But get used to the fact that it won't do one single thing for excess skin.
True excess skin with no extra fat underneath it is going to hang, sag, and wrinkle. The good news is that if you ever get a tummy tuck you'll have wonderful definition in that area!
