When to try lettuce?
Clearly I'm planning very far ahead here - don't worry that I'm going to try this until I get to a diet stage where it's allowed!
A few years ago I discovered that leafy greens no longer agreed with my stomach. Kale, spinach, lettuce, chard, you name it, it gave me painful diarrhea. I'm sort of hoping that this issue will stop at some point post-op.
If you were me, how long beyond being cleared to eat "anything" would you wait to give lettuce a try?

I didn't eat raw veggies of any sort until around 5 months post-op. Even now, the only raw veggies I'll eat are usually salad greens and shredded carrots. All other veggies I eat cooked (steamed, roasted, braised, sauteed).

That's funny, my surgeon had me on lettuce @ 6 weeks. I wasn't brave enough until 8, but I'm @ 3 months and doing it.

I was told to wait at least 3 months before raw veggies. I waited longer, because I figured longer wouldn't hurt.
You are doing awesome, BTW...keep it up!

I was actually told to wait 3 months but for some reason, I was too scared. I read someone ate lettuce a few weeks out and said it was painful like the lettuce was stuck in their sleeve. I got a visual of it and it and it freaked me out but I'm a big baby.
I would think 3 months was fine. Some people try it sooner and are fine. Just depends how brave you are. :)
