cost chicago area

Hello, i am wondering how much patients in the chicago area have been paying for the sleeve? i would be paying out of pocket...thank you

the cost can vary widely.  if you are truly paying in cash, call the bariatric center you will use and ask them for an estimate for self-pay.  there are also health care lines of credit that you may be able to use to finance surgery.  some people who self pay go to mexico to save money too.  good luck.

I went to Dr Tiesenga and payed out of pocket.  Everything together was about 17K.  I would recommend him -- his bedside manner is OK.  I was very confident in his ability and his team is really nice.

For the most part my experience was great.  

I am so happy with my progress.  I am less than 3 months out and down 65 lbs.  I know people say this isn't the easy way out, but honestly, this is so much easier than dieting was for me before.  I would really recommend the surgery and Dr. T's office. 

wow...thats great!...you say for the most part...can you tell me the negatives?

another question...what is your diet like now?...can u eat what you want, just alot less of ot?

I was uninsured prior to this year (my job doesn't offer coverage). I signed up for BC/BS it's about $270 a month but they approved my VSG in 3 days. Maybe that is an option?

It's not in Chicago but not too far from you....I went to DR Pleatman who is outside Detroit.  $11,200   I live in Madison WI so I drove there to have the sleeve.  I was approved by him over the phone (and after some faxed paperwork) and had the surgery 5 weeks later.  I drove there on a Tues and met with him and his NUT on Wed.  Surgery on Thurs and released on Friday to a hotel room.  I was able to see him on Monday morning and drive home after that (I didn't do the driving but was able to ride the 7 hours home).  He has an extensive website so check it out.  Good luck with everything!!
