Back in the Saddle again...

Had my surgery 02/2010, So I was gone from here for like 3 years. I did not have any regain until the last year, and it was all my fault. Not my sleeve, it did not let me down, I let it down. This last year I gained nearly 40 pounds, I went back to drinking diet soda, eating whatever I felt like, which was sometimes candy, cupcakes and crap. Starting Christmas I started over. Quite drinking the diet coke, threw out all the sugar and wheat, cleaned out my cupboards, cleaned out the fridge. I am now down 5 pounds since the first of the year, and going to the gym. I guess I just want to say, your sleeve will stll work, still be a useful tool, as long as you use it. Mine still works. I still have restriction. I know I can eat around it, so now I have to make better choices.

Keep up your good habits and identify bad trends before they become bad habits.

Good for you. Best of luck in the coming year. You'll be back at goal before you know it if you keep being honest and real with yourself like you seem to be doing over your last couple if posts.

Take care if yourself :)

I was off program last months and hurt my sleeve.  Getting back up into the saddle again also.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I am doing the same - planning to keep my regain at only a few pounds.  We are all still working on things....all our lives. :O)

I have gained 35. Lost 30 then regained it. Now trying to get "get back in saddle again". So I am reading on the website for support and glad you posted. I am not alone!!  Also what does diet coke do?  I drink too many and think it makes cravings.

That's it exactly! Diet sodas, or any kind of artificial sweetener, or even any types of sweeteners, cause cravings. There is a whole long medical explanation for the process, but basically the candida bacteria in your stomach feed on sweeteners, including artificial ones. The more they get the more they multiply. If you cut back on the feed they need, they tell your body they are hungry, then you crave sweets. This is not the exact description, but the readers digest version. That is why when you eat carbs you crave carbs more.

Thanks. I will read up on candida. I weighed at 200 today. My lightest was 171. I stayed there for a couple years then slowly starting some 5 pound swings. Now bad. I was at 300. I am only 5' 4".  So I really wanted to get to 165 then have plastic surgery. I will follow you to get inspiration. This is first time I wrote anything. I am do glad you shared.

I'm getting back on track too. Lost my protein focus and started eating too much crap. Damn food addiction!  Thank you for your post and honesty. It's good to know I'm not alone

I had my surgery 11/2011 and was down 80# in 7 months.  Then I tore my plantar fascia and ended up in a walking cast for 8 months and had to have surgery.  That completely derailed me.  I haven't gained any weight back, but I have not lost any more and am still 50-60# from my goal.  I also fell back into old habits of eating sugar, too many carbs, fast food, and even pop.  I finally feel ready to get back with the program and not let my injury or depression or any other excuses I can come up with keep me from where I want ( and deserve) to be.

So bring on the water, the protein and veggies!  Good-bye Coke- I will miss you, but you've not been very nice to me and I think we need to break up for good.

Restarting my Body Fit subscription to track my calorie burn.  Already put up my motivational calendar and have my " Way To Go!" stickers at standby.  It's amazing what a gold star will do to keep me on track!

Glad to see that there are others out there that have struggled and hopefully we can all find support on here with each other and everybody else on these forums.  It's hard enough to admit a failure or issue to yourself, let alone on here, even if we can be anonymous.  So kudos to all of us!

Feel free to MSG me even if its just to keep from sticking something you know you don't REALLY want in your mouth.
