Almost4 yrs out, remember me?
I am returning after a long foray into normal life. Seeing if anyone remembers the Bikerchickk. I have gained back a few pounds and am working hard to unlearn my bad habits and lose the extra weight, so far I am doing fine. But want to find some others a few years out to compare notes with. Anybody out there?
So, I have been bad. I started drinking diet soda again and started gaining weight. I gained none of my lost weight bac****il then. With the return of diet soda, I had mad cravings for carbs. BAD CARBS. I never really cared much about carbs before restarting my diet coke addiction, and was not really into sweets. Then came the evil aspartame, and I fell hard. I have gained back almost 40 pounds! Well from 142 back up to 179! I have finally kicked my diet coke addiction again, that stuff does not want to let you go either! Warning, if you don't drink it, don't start! Dr says it can be as hard to quit as cigarettes and heroin. I believe it. I had headaches, shakes, night sweats, irritability and sleeping problems. Food cravings, dry mouth, bad breath, muscle weakness and a slew of other side effects. Now I feel a lot better and the weight is coming back off. I am starting my New years resolutions a bit early this year.
And for those of you who are in your first year or two, yes it gets easier to eat more and eat things that now you cannot tolerate.

At 4 years out I crept back up to 180 now working my way back down. CW 173 size 10
Glad to see you are getting yourself back on track. The whole diet coke thing is more addictive than my prescriptive adderal- for real. First time I had to give it up was because of my first pregnancy, and I would pretty much just sit at home and shake. Tons of withdrawal. Started drinking it again after my son came, but way less. Gave it up again for pregnancy number 2, and this time never went back. Thank God! Interestingly, when I was in high school my Bmi was 17... then I started drinking diet soda and that is when my weight gain began. Can't be a coincidence!

Thank you for posting this! I'm still a relative newbie. Been on this journey for a year, 6 mo. post op. I had some diet soda last week (I NEEDED something with some real flavor!!) and have been craving sweets ever since. That crap is going in the trash PRONTO.
Thanks again!

Hi, I remember you. I am sorry to hear you had some issues with diet cola; it can be a very hard habit to kick. Sounds like you are getting back into the swing of things. Yes, it does get much harder further out. I recently went up a few pounds and had to fight really hard to get it back off. I am glad you are back and I hope you keep posting.
Hi! I remember you! I will be 4 years out in May 2014 and I am on the same slippery slope as you. I didn't start with cokes again but I have stated with the carbs again. I too am trying to get back on track. It is hard though. I can't seem to get it together. I have stopped being as active this past year. I found out the I had tongue cancer and went thru several surgeries. No chemo or radiation though. I am all good now and cancer free!! I have gotten to comfortable with the sneaky old, bad habits again. I have got to get back in the gym and get rid of the carbs. I started out at 223 lbs and my lowest was 153. I am now back up to 170. I was a size 18 starting and smallest was an 8 and I have creeped into a 10!! I too am starting my New Years Resolution early. I also forgot to mention that I am back on birth control and didn't start noticing the weight gain until then. I may trash them!!
Hope you have a happy new year and you accomplish all you set out to do!!
