Hey Congrats!!

I didn't take much. Generally, you are only there one night. I brought lip balm, slippers, loose/comfy clothes to wear home, my laptop (didn't use it much, though), robe, and comfy pj's (didn't even wear).

A pillow - You may or may not want to take it to the hospital, but is at least have it in the car for on the way home to hold against your stomach. Potholes, and in my case, train tracks, are a BEAST.

CHAPSTICK - I really can't stress that enough. You will be parched and they probably won't let you have more than ice chips the first day.

That is really all I ended up needing out of an entire bag of junk that I took!

I wore the clothes I wore to the hospital, home.  But I packed a couple clean underwear, my hair dryer, my hair brush, tooth brush and toothpaste (It was summer..so I wore flip flops into the hospital)...I didn't use my hair dryer.  I had my cell phone and listened to Pandora a couple of times but I was so tired that I really didn't do much other than walk around, go to the bathroom and sleep.  It's not going to matter to have a nightgown or bathrobe...you'll be using the johnny's and their socks..not the most attractive outfit but really...you'll be too tired to care.  I did take my pillow too and used it as a hug pillow...and on the way home to put up against my stomach...a lot of the roads on the way home were under construction and full of bumps galore.  I was allowed those mouth sponge things to moisten my mouth and lips until I was able to start sipping water, broth and jello.  That's about it for me...
