I'm late here, but I had to post to let you know that I am so sorry about everything you've been through. You are so strong and I am glad you posted an update. I won't attempt to give you any words of wisdom. I am sending good, healing vibes your way though. There are a lot of people rooting for you.

I have had the back pain and back surgery. I empathize!
Sending you gentle hugs and many good thoughts.
Can you hire a person to make you some meals?
I dont know your finances, but am trying to think out of the usual box.
Is someone close enough that they could come for a day and help you put together some meals and help stock your kitchen? It would be something off your plate. A little less stress.
I so hope you find some peace.

Alison,

I want to just say you really are such a brave person.  I know I don't really know you, just over the net, but I've followed you since I started on OH over a year ago and you are amazing.  Just the fact that you care enough about us on this website to post your updates and be honest with your struggles is awesome.  Thanks so much for all the support you have given me and others in the past.  You deserve nothing but our support now.

I really hope this phase in your life passes quickly.  I have never dealt with issues like you are going through but I have had some depression and other things and just dealing with that makes me feel like life isn't worth living sometimes.  I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through.  Please try and focus on what a great person you are and how much you have accomplished. Not only with weight loss and fitness but also in your personal life. You are such a smart, sweet, beautiful person, from what I can see of you on here.  I wish you nothing but the best.  Please continue to update us and let us know how you are.

Karin

I haven't had a chance to read all of this yet -- very elderly Dad in hospital for heart and very elderly Mom here and going nuts more than usual.  I will read it, though.  Just wanted to send you hugs and let you know that I am always, always on your team.  You have tough stuff to deal with.

Oh Alison, I'm so sorry you've been having such an awful time. You're my daughter's age, and I'd be distraught if she was having to cope with as much as you are.
Your juice is a bigger step than is obvious. It's you pulling your ragged self together to do something for your health, and right now doing that at all is a LOT. Ignore any "advice" to "get back to basics" or any such nonsense. Sip that juice and know that today, for now, you're doing your very best, and one Mum in the frozen north thinks the world of you and your tenacity.
Do any of the shakes you used to drink appeal at all? If so, maybe try for one of those tomorrow. If not, maybe a rotisserie chicken from the store to nibble on? Hard boiled eggs? (you can buy them already cooked and peeled) Gradually adding some protein is worthwhile health wise, and right now maybe doing that would be as much as is reasonable to ask of yourself.

Hugs to you. Keep talking to us, k?
Kelly-Anne

HUGS... I dealt with back pain - 2 herniated disks.. there was time that I was considering ending the pain...it was so bad...

That was the time that due to steroid injections, pain meds, more pain meds... inability to exercise... pain and more pain -  gained app 70 lbs and even after I felt better - all the meds and steroids did permanent damage to my body... (I deal with Secondary Adrenal insufficiency - most likely due to steroids use)

It took me app 2 years to be able to function ...  During that time when I tried to exercise - my back would go out again and the whole circle would start again... But eventually - I got better.

Hang in there... there are more newer procedures, more hopes...  And with the sleeve - you probably can take some NSAIDS...

In a mean time- please take care... HUGS... I don't wish back pain on anyone... best wishes..

After I was able to move - more or less - yoga,  walking, good chiropractor, and acupuncture is what keeps me in a fair shape. .

Hey Allison! I think about you from time to time, sorry to hear things are still throwing mud at you.

Sometimes just surviving is the hardest work we can do, so I am hoping the change in ins. will aid in getting a better fit with a good med/psych team that you can rely on and get some really good support from.

In the meantime (and yes, I know you are already doing this.. so consider this more of a support vs advice thing!)- just try your best to keep your head as much as you can, try to get some decent nutrition as much as you can manage, but try not to stress the body thing so much.. that can fall into place when you start feeling better. Still try to get some real whole foods in you (for me, mind/body seems to be very connected, my emotional health suffers if I eat crappy for too many days running), but don't ADD the stress of trying to necessarily lose right now.. we all know that's work, and you have your work cut out for you with the pain/emotional/psych side to focus on. Prioritize the issues, and apply your limited resources and energy to the one that's bothering you most.. ((hugs))

I'm so sorry your having to deal with all of this Allison. I know how tough you are so this must be driving you crazy not to have answers.. I hope you find the answers you are looking for and are able to get things under control. I know I'm not around here much but I get all PM's sent to my phone if you ever need to talk or want a workout buddy for the day.

Take care...

Ryan
