I shaved almost 15 mintues off my Half Marathon time (STILL AMAZED)
Not that times ONE and TWO weren't amazing!!
My pace, my race that was my mantra as I completed my 3rd Half Marathon yesterday. My goal was to beat myself and it was a lofty goal because I wanted shave 15 minites off my time and I'm a walker. Over a month ago I met with my marathon coach Larry and did 8 miles and at the pace I was going I was destined to once again complete my half in 4 hours. I asked him if I wanted to finish in 3: 45 what was my per mile goal. That goal was 17: 10 per mile.
That goal in the long run seemed impossible to MAINTAIN but I refuse to tell myself I can't do something if I set my mind to. In the last month I only did 3 miles on the treadmill and its easy to keep a pace when you can hold onto the rails, lol (and I do). My test came on my 5 miles with Black Girls Run when I hit the streets. I almost cried when I maintained a 17: 05 mile.
The final test would be maintaining that for a whole 13 miles. As they say a picture is worth a thousand word
