Hi,

I am 13 days post op. I have been walking.   I was just wondering when I can start abdominal exercises like crunches, etc? Thanks and I am really enjoying this site!

6 to 8 weeks post op. I would wait the whole 8 weeks even if your doctor clears you. You do not want to herniate an incision. I have one and its not comfortable.

Check with your surgeon - I was cleared for all exercise at 1 month out - before that, it was walking for me!

Especially your abdominal muscles. You can probably start more intense cardio after 6 weeks but I would definitely wait 8 weeks before starting ab work and also when you do start, do not start with situps and crunches, start with planks and exercises that work your entire core. There are about 10 different plank exercises you could do for 2 weeks before you start in on crunches or situps.
