Trouble Sleeping

So I am 4 weeks out and doing pretty well.  I still have the soreness on my left side but otherwise pretty much back to normal.  I've lost 25 lbs so far.  I get my protein (about 80 g) and water (about 100 oz) every day. I walk 3-5 miles 6 days a week so I'm getting some exercise.   BUT, over the past couple of weeks I've been having a really hard time getting and staying asleep.  Is this a normal issue and just part of the process?  I have my 6 week appt soon and will talk to my doc but thought I'd ask here in the meantime! :)

before your surgery did you drink a lot of caffine , , caffine withdrawal can keep you up at night

there was a post yesterday that said that if you add magnesium  to your diet you will sleep better , never tried it

you could try the old standby  hot milk before bedtime or a hot bath

I'm a newbie, and have not had surgery yet...  But I was wondering if maybe melatonin would help you sleep.  We use it in veterinary medicine for hair loss and sleep issues.  I take it to help me sleep sometimes (bu****ch out for the wild crazy dreams).  You might want to ask your Dr,. but a 3mg melatonin is natural and from what I understand, safe.  I just dont know if it is safe for VSGers.  I was also wondering if it would help the hair loss, but I havent found any reference to it anywhere.

caffeine was not at play for me like OP stated but like you I did experience trouble sleeping early on. It ironed itself out without any interventions. I think what happened for me is that I felt an incredible increase in energy and stamina as my body detoxed, shed some weight, and was working more normally. I was diabetic dependent on medication to keep blood sugar down and I think as soon as my metabolism started correcting itself I required much less sleep.

Thanks for the replies.  Never really a big coffee or soda drinker so don't think it is related to withdrawal.  Might have to try some warm milk...good suggestion.  I really appreciate everyone taking the time to respond.  You guys are great! :D
