And if I wasnt so high on pain meds, id figure out a way to turn my computer on and post it but it says

"I pooped today"

Im not sure there could be a better magnet for my bathroom...ever. In the two years since surgery, ive pretty much celebrated every pooping session lol.

However, after being on strong narcotics for a couple weeks, the most horrible constipation I could imagine, crippling stomach pain (only to go with my crippling back pain of course) and a pretty bad anal fissure......i think ive gotten it under control

Unspeakable amounts of unsweetneed apple sauce + fiber one bars + 4 sevings of miralax a day = constantly running to the bathroom!!!  Its a problem I just cant complain about.

So to shannon -who sent this to me - THANK YOU!! It's perfect!

LOVE IT!!!!!!

Isn't it a hoot how going poop can become such an important part of post WLS life? I never would have thought pinching a loaf would be a subject that would occupy my thoughts. Well, after a few bouts of severe, gut wrenching, I'm-gonna-pass-out-on-the-toilet-and-smash-my-skull-open-on-the-throne moments while trying  to pass the friggin' Rock of Gibraltar out of my butt it sure as hell did! Luckily, I have my ****tail worked out and it is doctor approved.

Use that magnet with pride! (Can you tell, I sort of want one, too????)

Like! I totally understand. Now....I want to know the magic ****tail......

As of now I get in my water, take 2 colace per day and 2 servings of fiber powder....and STILL have trouble so I'm open to suggestions. I know it's nothing compared to narcotic induced constipation but its still a pain....literally

Ok so ive struggled for 2 years. I doubt there is a secret recipe but im hoping the miralax will keep me unplugged for a while.

Early out - ie 6 mo - coffee was the most hard core laxative ever. Id have a small cup and I could barely make it to work and was always running straight to the bathroom. That lasted 2-3 months and then my bowels stopped reacting to the coffee.

Then, I went through a high fiber diet, lots of water, lots of exercise - that did nothing for me. I was getting my fiber through supps - never got things going.

When I was doing a high fiber diet and running 4 times a week - I was pretty close to regular...not perfect, but an improvement. Walking/running/activity is definitnely crucial piece of the puzzle.

I tried miralax, milk of magnesia - those never did anything for me - BUT i ony took 2 servings a day and looking back, i see the problems now.

Ex lax used to be a emergency option - it got to the point where ex lax didnt get things going at all (that started my freak out)

Then I discovered magnesium citrate. That **** (no pun intended cause it actually tasted pretty good) is like dynamite in your guts and it gave me the runs for 3 WHOLE DAYS.

So, what I had to do was to drink ot over 3 days (it took me that long to clear out...it was a weeks worth of back up omg) and then i started teh apple sauce and fiber one and 4 doses of miralax that seems to have me going every day.

So before ever starting miralx and fiber supps - you absolutely neeed to get totally unblocked because otherwise the miralax cant work.

For the first 1/5 yrs after surgery, I took ducolax softenrs twice a day and that prevented any hard stools when I finally did go but my bowles were still very slow to clear out...regularly went 3-4 days without going. I stopped taking them eventually, and that led to my demise once I had to start the narcotics. I was so overwhelmed with pain it never occured to me the side effects of drugs and absolutely no activity.

Its trial and error, and its irritating but let me tell you, you NEVER EVER EVER want to let it get to hard and backed up that you end up with a fissure. Theres nothing worse in my life than a rectal exam by a HOT HOT HOT ER Doc....I wish they could have just knocked me out.
